Special Programs
Sing and Sign
Sing and Sign is a program that combines music and simple sign language phrases. Mrs. Kathy comes throughout the year to share seasonally appropriate songs.
Entertainers
Each year we host either interactive story teller, Mr. Don Dougherty or musician, Silly Joe.
Don Dougherty has presented “Advent Christian Preschool Saves Christmas” and “The Quest for the True Treasure”. In both stories, the children’s names are used in the story and they are active participants which makes it extra fun.
Silly Joe plays guitar and entertains the children with his high energy songs. The kids really enjoy singing and laughing with him especially when he wears underwear on his head!
Zoo on Wheels
Annually, the Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels brings four small animals for the preschoolers to see up close. In the 40 minute program, children learn about each animal's special features and the habitats in which they live.
Topics include:
• Eyes, Ears, Nose and Toes: All about animal’s five senses
• Fur, Feathers, Scales and Skin: All about birds, mammals, and reptiles
• Around the World Safari: Meet animals from 4 different continents
Yoga
During letter Y week, we offer children’s yoga which provides mindful movement, breath work and focus activities.
Halloween Parade
On or near Halloween, the children come to preschool dressed in their Halloween costumes. They parade around our Social Hall and then perform a few festive finger plays and songs to the delight of their audience.
Christmas Show
Family and friends are invited to attend our annual Christmas show. Each class sings Christmas songs and the older students act out the Nativity. Join us as we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas!
