Appalachia Service Project
ASP offers one of the nation's most impactful and rewarding structured service opportunities, bringing thousands of volunteers from across the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families. Each year, Advent mobilizes youth and adults for a week-long mission, dedicated to rebuilding and winterizing homes in this vital region. Today, this ministry continues in partnership with surrounding churches, strengthening its reach and impact.

ACT Now
Act Now is an interfaith organization located in West Chester, PA, that aims to empower the un-and under-employed to stabilize their households and work towards self-sustainability.

Bingo For A Cause
Advent partners with charitable organizations and WCASD organizations by sponsoring regular Bingo for a cause events, where 100% of the proceeds support the organization. Each Bingo for a cause can raise $3,000 or more. Interested organizations may reach out.

Clothing Drives
Advent Collects clothing for a number of organizations, including Veterans and One Warm Coat in the fall. We also have a clothing bin in our parking lot to collect clothing donations throughout the year.

College Care Packages

Connecting with Senior Citizens
Throughout the year, Advent youth and adults bring joy to the residents of Aventura Nursing and Rehabilitation Home by leading hymn sing-alongs and hosting Bingo games. During the Christmas season, several members make special visits, delivering gifts to residents who might not otherwise receive visits from family or friends.

Domestic Violence Center
The mission of the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County is to reduce domestic violence by supporting survivors and advancing prevention strategies. Advent supports DVCCC financially and collects diapers and body wash.

First Responders
Advent honors our first responders by delivering hoagie trays and cookies to WEGOPD and to Goshen Fire Company on National First Responders Day in October. Pastor Chris serves as one of the chaplains for WEGOPD.

Ministry In Daily Life
Advent members engage in a wide variety of service in their daily lives including such work as: ESL tutoring, GED tutoring, Girl/Boy Scouts, Meals on Wheels, Rotary, Reading at area schools, Various Walks, Supporting Veterans, and Special Olympics.
Prosper the work of our hands, O God, which we do for the common good. Everything you do, everywhere you are, you are engaged in ministry.

Quilting
Quilting group meets monthly to sew quilts for the newly baptized and for those going through a difficult time.

Red Cross Blood Drive
Advent members support the Red Cross by hosting two Blood Drives a year.

Rise Against Hunger
Advent hosts at least one event each year. We purchase and assemble over 10,000 meals for areas in need.

Salvation Army
Advent members serve as bell ringers for the Salvation Army’s annual collection on a Saturday before Christmas at the Acme in West Chester.

Stewardship
We are called to use our gifts of time, talent, and treasures to honor God and to support His Work. Once per year we have a Stewardship Sunday, during which many congregational members estimate their level of financial support to Advent and indicate new ways they may wish to share their time and talent.

Take Them A Meal
Take Them A Meal is an easy (and free!) online tool for coordinating the delivery of meals to loved ones. If a friend is ill, elderly, or welcoming a child, you can rally their community to take them meals. We also offer delicious, fully-prepared meals that can be shipped directly to their door.

The Point
The Point in Parkesburg, Pa’s sole purpose is addressing challenges faced by the most vulnerable youth in Western Chester County.The Point offers faith based programs for after school, weekends, and summers. In the summer, Advent members participate in filling 80-100 lunch bags for the bus trip for the kiddos to Sight and Sound.

Toys For Tots
Advent members generously donate toys every year before Christmas.

Veterans Brotherhood
Every October, Advent participates in Boscov’s “Friends Helping Friends” coupon event. All monies raised go to Veteran’s Brotherhood, a non profit organization in Pennsburg, Pa. Veteran’s Brotherhood provides mentoring and support to all veterans and to their families. Advent shows appreciation to our veterans in this meaningful way.

West Chester Food Cupboard
Advent collects food for the food cupboard each week. Advent also has a community Garden that we provide over 500 pounds of fresh produce.

Worship at Area Retirement Communities
Join Pastor Chris as he leads two services a month on the fourth Sunday at Freedom Village. Service times are 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
